Call Center Hospital Keningau

At Keningau Hospital Call Center (KHCC), our specially trained registered nurses or Assistant Medical Officer work with the caller to assess the nature of the problem, offer a specific solution, and/or direct the caller to the most appropriate level of care. Because our nurses or Assistant Medical Officer work within the scope of nursing practice, they do not offer a medical diagnosis. However, a board certified physician is available 24/7 to provide support for the nurses and to review assessments as needed.
Telephone triage allows callers to speak to a live, highly trained healthcare professional who can assist them in making appropriate healthcare decisions - any time of the day or night. For our clients, utilization of the KHCC registered nurse staff OR Assistant Medical Officer has proven to be cost effective and to reduce misappropriated or unnecessary utilization of valuable healthcare resources.
Most KHCC calls begin with recording the caller’s demographic information and their presenting medical problem. This is followed by careful questioning and a short health history. A registered nurse OR Assistant Medical Officer enters this information into the KHCC software to determine an appropriate course of action based on the caller’s responses. The course of action can range from “emergent” (call 911 now) to “see doctor” (within a given number of hours) to “call doctor” or self-care advice.
